Black History Month: How celebrities are showing their support

Octavia Spencer has a heart of gold. On the eve of the first day of Black History Month, the award-winning actress revealed that she would buy an entire Mississippi theatre for underprivileged youth to view the Marvel film.
She took to Instagram to share the news, writing, "I will be in MS when this movie opens. I think I will buy out a theatre in an underserved community there to ensure that all our brown children can see themselves as a superhero. I will let you know where and when Mississippi. Stay tuned. #KingsAndQueensWillRise #blackpanthermovie".
She did this once before, back in 2017, with her film Hidden Figures, a true story about the brilliant team of African-American women who worked as mathematicians at NASA.

Viola Davis took to Instagram to commemorate the beginning of Black History Month with a quote from esteemed author Maya Angelou. "The more you know of your history, the more liberated you are."
The award-winning actress is known for speaking out about causes that are important to her. Recently, she spoke at the Los Angeles Women's March in support of victims of harassment and sexual violence.
