Oprah Winfrey is definitely a contender for one of Hollywood’s most generous stars (remember when the talk show host gave out 276 cars to the members of her audience in 2004?). And if you’re a friend of the 64-year-old, like Mindy Kaling, you can expect to be on the receiving end of some incredible presents. Oprah recently gave her A Wrinkle in Time co-star one of the sweetest baby gifts ever.
The media icon’s assistant casually called Mindy to propose a time to drop something off for her newborn baby girl, Katherine, says USA Today. “All you want in life is to hear that two men in a U-Haul truck are coming to your house because Oprah sent them. I was supposed to go to work that day [but I was like,] ‘I gotta be here,’” the actress shared.
When the truck arrived at her house, the star and creator of TheMindy Project couldn't believe what the two men revealed: a perfectly hand-carved bookcase. “[It was] prettier than any professional dollhouse you had ever seen,” she said. “I held my baby up to it and said, ‘Did you see what Miss Winfrey did for you?’”
Filled to the brim with classic children’s books, Katherine is bound to flourish into a well-read, Oprah Book Club-approved young woman! And, of course, the mogul added her own personal flare. Each book says “Katherine’s Book Club,” an homage to Oprah’s incredibly popular group that helps promote new literature across the globe.
There are definitely perks to being friends with Oprah, who also gifted her friend Gayle King a live-in nanny when she had her second child. And if being an expert present-giver isn’t enough, rumours have been swirling around the business mogul running for president, which could be the greatest gift of all for her fans! The chatter began after she delivered an incredibly moving speech at the Golden Globes after taking home the Cecil B. de Mille award. However, Oprah has since addressed the plea for her presidency bid, and doesn't plan on running anytime soon, "It never has felt to me that that I was supposed to be political and it still does not feel that to me."
