Celebrity couples who first met on a blind date

From royals to top names in film, music and fashion, even celebrities need the help of a matchmaker sometimes. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were famously set up by a mutual friend (most recently reported to be Violet von Westenholz), joining the ranks of Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford, Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake, and many more. While not all are blind dates in the conventional sense, we are talking about Hollywood romance after all! Click through to see all the twosomes whose love is or was the product of Cupids...

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry
After being set up by a mutual friend and meeting twice in London, Harry was able to persuade the Suits star to join him in Botswana and the two fell in love under the stars. In their engagement interview, Harry revealed that the alone time was crucial for their relationship. For Meghan, prior to meeting the prince she asked her friend if he was nice, because “if he wasn’t kind, it just didn’t seem like it would make sense.” Clearly she approved, and the two are set to tie the not on May 19 at Windsor Castle!

Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston
Fans are definitely holding their breaths for Tinseltown's former golden couple to rekindle their romance (they've both recently divorced partners Angelina Jolie and Justin Theroux). Back when they first fell in love in 1998, Brad and Jen were set up in the most Hollywood way: by their agents! The Fight Club actor and Friends star married two years later and were the belles of the ball wherever they went until divorcing in 2005.

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds
One of Canada's most beloved expats also met his ladylove while on a date - with another woman! Ryan and Blake's first date was in fact a double date, where the actors were paired with other people. “It was the most awkward date to respective parties because it was just like fireworks coming across the table,” the Deadpool star said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. The two actors started off with a platonic relationship, which Blake told People she really appreciates, as Reynolds is her “friend first and foremost.”

Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford
Blind dates typically involve two people who don't know much about one another, but when your date is Cindy Crawford it’s kind of hard to do. Cindy’s agent Michael Gruber played matchmaker for his friend, former model Rande Gerber, who was surprised by “how cool and down-to-earth she was.” The picture-perfect pair, who often vacation in Canada’s stunning Muskoka cottage country, married since 1998 and have added two more models to the family: Presley, 18, and 16-year-old Kaia.

Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen
Are we noticing a trend that some of the most beautiful couples are the product of blind dates? If not, here’s another one that may convince. Supermodel Gisele and NFL star Tom met shortly after he split from then-girlfriend Bridget Moynahan. “My friend told me that he knew a girl version of me,” the athlete said in an interview with Details. Gisele told Vogue UK that she knew Tom was “the one” and that she could “see it in his eyes that he was a man with integrity who believes in the same things I do.” The pair, who share two children and a notoriously healthy lifestyle, celebrate their 10-year wedding anniversary in 2019.

Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris
The two looked like a match made in music heaven when they started appearing on red carpets together, and their courtship all begun thanks to British singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding. She told The Sun that she played matchmaker, gushing that Calvin was a “really great mate” and Taylor was “such a cool person” so it just made sense to put them together. Well, that and their heights match. “They’re both really awesome and both really tall, they’ll be brilliant together,” she told the outlet in 2015. Unfortunately, their stature wasn’t enough to keep them together and the couple split after 15 months of very public canoodling, from London to Rhode Island.

Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel
Perhaps like us you grew up watching Jessica play the beloved basketball player (and girl next door) on the family drama 7th Heaven. And maybe you also remember seeing Justin as one fifth of a little boy band called NSYNC. It was only a matter of time before these two met, right? Right. Thanks to Jessica's 7th Heaven co-star, Beverly Mitchell, the couple was introduced at the 2007 Golden Globes and hit it off immediately. Beverly told Marie Claire UK that the connection was a thrill to see. “It was so cute because they were like—it’s that moment like I like you, I think you like me. It was very, very sweet,” she said. So it’s technically not the most conventional blind date, but is anything in the world of celebrities really conventional?

Josh Groban and Kat Dennings
The multi-platinum recording artist and talented actress met through none other than Beth Behrs a.k.a. Kat's co-star (and bestie) on 2 Broke Girls. Beth said she wanted to find Josh “the right girl” and in an interview with People she said one of the major draws was that both Kat and Josh were nerds at heart. “They’re in this crazy business, they’re both very calm and mellow and wonderful,” she said of their blossoming relationship, which eventually fizzled out in 2016.

Lena Dunham and Jack Antonoff
The Bleachers frontman and Girls alum apparently got together through comedian Mike Birbiglia back in 2012. Jack explained the meeting as a “blind date by modern standards," telling Us Weekly that he used the internet. “I told Lena everything about my whole life, because when you really like someone, you want them to know everything about you.” The two called it quits in early 2018.

François-Henri Pinault and Salma Hayek
The French businessman and veteran actress always seem so happy and in love when they’re photographed, and those gushy feelings are the product of a blind date. It definitely wasn't love at first sight, though! In an interview with Latina, Salma recalled that first encounter — she didn’t even know it was a date. “I thought I was going to an event and then there was one person at it,” she said. “I was set up by friends to think I was going to an event, because they knew I wouldn’t go on a date! I was angry. And he didn’t know, because he thought I knew he was coming just to meet him.” Awkward indeed. Luckily, the two were able to get past the first meeting hiccups and have been married since 2009.

Khloé Kardashian and Tristan Thompson
The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star and her NBA player beau met back in 2016. Khloé's friend, Brandon Jennings (also a b-ball player) set the two up as he felt Khloe was “such a good girl” and the rendezvous happened at the Bel-Air Hotel. “I didn’t want to go on a blind date,” Khloé revealed on KUWTK’ 10th anniversary special. “So Brandon kind of ambushed the blind date. We just connected.” The two have since been inseparable and are expecting their first child in 2018.
