Sophie Turner has brought a refreshing perspective on love, marriage and work to the table as one of Marie Claire ’s ‘Fresh Faces.’ The Game of Thrones star opened up about her recent engagement to Joe Jonas and threw down some inspiring wisdom for her fans, saying she doesn’t consider being betrothed an achievement and is still very much driven by her big-screen career.
After dating officially for just under a year, the gorgeous couple announced their engagement in October by posting adorably coordinated Instagram posts. “I said yes,” the actress captioned her shot, while her love wrote “She said yes.” The photo showed off Sophie’s gorgeous pear-shaped engagement ring with double diamond band. But just because she’s getting married doesn’t mean she’s slowing down. “There’s this weird misconception that being married is the greatest thing that’ll ever happen to you,” she told the glossy. “But I’ve always found that my career is something I work for, and when I achieve something, there’s a sense that this is the greatest thing I’ll do in my life.”
The 22-year-old continued: “It’s lovely to be engaged. Not like I achieved anything, but I found my person like I’d find a house that I love and want to stay in forever. There’s a sense of peace that comes with finding your person. But there’s a drive that comes with your career.” And her level of maturity hasn’t changed one bit – just after getting engaged, Sophie told Marie Clairethat being with Joe is easy. “I found it easier to date someone who understands the industry or is in that world. You realize that you’re not going to see each other all the time.”
While Joe, 28, and Sophie haven’t been together too long, the X-Men star has already made a wonderful impression on his family – yes, the Jonas Brothersand their father, too! The musician’s dad Kevin Jonas Jr. told People that “in our minds, [she’s] already a daughter-in-law! From the first time we met her, we knew she was a special young lady.”
The special lady is joined by other young faces on individual covers of the magazine, including Grownish star Yara Shahidi, Insecure’s Issa Rae, Katherine Langford from 13 Reasons Why and indie darling Riley Keough, who discuss their careers, politics, #metoo and more.
