Celebrities interviewing other celebrities: Jennifer Aniston, Gwyneth Paltrow and more

Fans relish any opportunity to peek behind the curtains of celebrity life, be it a glimpse of their lavish homes or a sweet snapshot of famous friends hanging out. One of the best ways to get to know your favourite stars is through a deep and personal interview - and some of the best ones happen between icons themselves, whether they're asking one another about their work, thoughts on the industry, random musings or oddball topics.

Julia Roberts and Oprah Winfrey
These industry powerhouses enjoyed an in-depth chat about everything from parenting to the tabloid rumour mill to Instagram and aging for the Nov. issue of Harper's Bazaar. Though the Homecoming actress has been married to the love of her life, Danny Moder, for 16 years, the gossip can still hurt. "Sometimes we are in the grocery store and I won't even know something is out, but we'll see a tabloid and we'll all be standing there life, 'Oh, that's uncomfortable. This is really uncomfortable.' It can still hurt my feelings, because I'm so proud of my marriage," she told Oprah. "We just celebrated being married for 16 years this Fourth of July, and there's so much happiness wrapped up in what we've found together."
The mother of three – Henry, 11, Hazel, 13, and Phinnaeus, 13 – told the talk show queen about an experience she had recently with Danny, when they were invited to go hiking with some friends. As someone who's scared of heights, this was no easy feat! "It was the most harrowing, maybe seven or eight hours of my physical life, and if it had not been for Danny truly lovingly talking me through one foot in front of the other, I don't know what I would've done," she gushed.

Ellen DeGeneres and Oprah Winfrey
What happens when you bring together two of daytime’s biggest talk show hosts? A whole lot of entertainment and a generous portion of insight! The pair aren't strangers to interviewing one another - in fact, Ellen came out as gay during a 1997 interview with Oprah. Not only was it groundbreaking, but it was one of those moments forever cemented in pop culture and no one could’ve handled it better than these two eloquent, charming, intelligent women. In 2009, Ellen became an O Magazine cover girl (naturally another interview between the legends ensued) and just last year the two relived the momentous 1997 interview on The Ellen Show.

James Franco and Dave Franco
“Here’s what I’ve figured out from living with you,” James Franco is heard saying to his brother Dave in the opening of this interview for Esquire. “You sleep for about 12 hours a day.” We hear Dave quickly chiming in “OK…that’s a gross exaggeration,” like any younger brother desperate to defend himself would do and so begins 12-plus minutes of siblings poking fun at each other on camera. The clip sees the siblings moving from a photo shoot to a car to dining outside, making for enjoyable scene shifts amid the fun and funny banter.

Jay-Z and Gwyneth Paltrow
The two moguls sat down for reasons twofold: one interview was for Paltrow’s lifestyle website, goop, and the other was for Jay-Z’s then-newly launched, Life+Times. Exchanging a handful of questions to one another, a sort of “you show me yours and I’ll show you mine” situation came to be. Jay-Z said things like “Women keep men cool” and gave his opinion about what being a cultural figure means. Gwyneth talked about her love of hip-hop as well as bands like The Cure and her own singing talent (she’s shown off her vocal skills on talk shows and Glee!). Jay-Z and Gwyneth are a dinner party duo we’d definitely want on hand.

Jennifer Aniston and Emily Blunt
These two fascinating actresses had an engaging interview in 2014, one that really delved into their experiences in the industry. They talk about conveying loss in a very sincere way, and Emily shared what reading lines with her actor hubby John Krasinski is like. Jennifer opened up about taking on her career-defining role in Cake. Words and sentences collide as the two banter eagerly, both extremely engaged and personable. What's better than watching two people with a lot of charisma and a lot of talent finding common ground?

Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lawrence
When Jennifer speaks about her love of the Kardashians she doesn’t shy away from the details, so should we expect any less when she interviews a Kardashian? As guest host of Jimmy Kimmel Live, the actress interrogated the reality star about the most random and totally entertaining subjects for nearly 20 minutes. There was such a rhythm between the two that it just felt like a normal everyday chat, even when Jennifer probed about Kim’s past relationship with Reggie Bush. The mix of commentary, laughter and flow certainly helped contribute to the clip’s overwhelming popularity—more than 21 million views!

Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis
Promoting their movie Friends with Benefits, this one-on-one interview between Justin and Mila sees the two talk about their favourite ‘90s jams and imitate each other to hilarious ends (the actress ridicules the singer's overuse of the phrase “by the way,” for example). They seem to almost finish each other’s sentences, something we'd keenly watch if they were given their own show, so it’s no wonder people thought they should date. They pair even sing a slew of songs together, which begs the question: would a double date with Mila, her husband Ashton Kutcher, Justin and his wife Jessica Biel be the best ever? We vote yes.

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth
Ah, young love is so great to watch blossom, and you can see these two flirting up a storm while asking each other questions from fans. Miley asking Liam about his favourite song of hers and he proceeding to sing “Party in the U.S.A.” was a highlight. We also love how whenever they speak to one another they can’t help but giggle in the cutest way possible. We could watch this clip over and over again and, well, we have.

Rihanna and Jim Parsons
Here’s an interview between two unlikely stars who clearly have a similar sense of humour—Rihanna is laughing for most of the chat and their witty banter is so effortless. There’s chemistry in such a genuine way that it’s safe to assume they get along off screen. We personally enjoyed the discussion on Jim’s planet!

Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss
In a 2013 issue of Interview (for the German and Russian editions), the supermodels sat down and spoke about equal rights in modelling, drawing on issues of gender and race. They also shared their own perspectives on stardom, and Naomi spoke about meeting Bob Marley for the first time as a little girl. The two British legends went topless on the cover of the magazine as well, which caused even more buzz.

There’s never a dull moment when these ladies are in the same room. Their witty chatter, comedic timing and overall chemistry is undeniable. This particular interview happened while they were promoting their film Baby Mama. Listen to some profound insight like “Because if you can’t upset your husband then who can…” and a pool of deadpan humour. It's no wonder the close friends are among the most beloved hosts to ever take the stage at the Golden Globes.
