When life gives Suri Cruise lemons, she knows exactly what to do with them! The little entrepreneur took to the New York City streets to sell $2 cups of lemonade – a refreshing beverage for city dwellers attending the Pride Parade festivities on Sunday (June 24).
Closely watched over by her nanny, a parade attendee told Us Weekly that Katie Holmes’ daughter “had a little stand set up with about four of her friends. They had rainbow Rice Krispies treats and lemonade with signs all around their table for Pride,” they shared. “She was very sweet and kind, telling everyone to enjoy their day and would smile whenever someone walked past! Very sweet.”
The 12-year-old is no stranger to these city streets! Suri and her mom, actress Katie Holmes, live together in Manhattan and are often spotted having the best mother-daughter dates around town, from nights out at the ballet to taking in basketball games. It’s clear that the Dawson’s Creek alum has been passing her passion for equality down to her daughter. Katie has been known to support initiatives that favour of gender equality, like ONE’s “Poverty is Sexist” campaign.
Members and allies of the LGBTQ community descend on the Big Apple every year to dance, and celebrate in rainbow colour. The parade traveled through Greenwich Village and up Fifth Avenue, headed by transgender advocate Tyler Ford and tennis champ Billie Jean King. Other big cities, like Seattle, Toronto, San Francisco and Mexico City also hosted their own Pride parades over the weekend. Sex and the City ’s Cynthia Nixon, who’s running for governor, made a spectacular appearance in the NYC parade, too!
