The world can never have enough Julia Roberts! The actress officially made her Instagram debut on Thursday (June 28), already boasting 373,000 followers and the simple profile description: “human.” Now, fans of the star can have a new perspective into her life as one of Hollywood’s biggest icons – and her first-ever post shows she’s a firm believer in love.
Sitting on the grass in front of a tree, showing off her megawatt smile, perfectly wavy blond hair and a sweater that reads “love,” the Wonder actress captioned the beautiful snap “Hello.” Already, the photo has nearly 170,000 likes and counting.
Until now, Julia has resisted the lure of social media, preferring to stay off of Twitter, Instagram and other channels. Back in 2014, the mother of three opened up about why she doesn’t indulge. “I just don’t get it. Who am I talking to? See, that’s the thing I don’t get. It’s like screaming into the wind,” she said with a laugh.
The 50-year-old star continued: “I guess I just don’t understand it. I feel if someone has a grievance with me then that’s a friend, so I’d go to them directly. There’s a directness I miss in the idea of the internet or Twitter. There’s a lack of human connection to all of it that doesn’t appeal to me.” So far, the Oscar winner doesn’t have a Twitter or Facebook account, but that could change now that she’s opened Pandora’s box!
Other Hollywood A-listers have recently signed up, too, like Tom Cruise, who started an Instagram account to promote his upcoming film, Mission: Impossible Fallout (set for release this summer). His first photo, which he posted on Jan. 25, was a black-and-white snap of a slate bearing the title of the movie and “Summer 18.”
