See why Chrissy Teigen came to Meghan Markle's defence

By Meaghan Wray

Chrissy Teigen is well known for sticking to her guns and confidently sharing her views on social media, especially when using her platform to stand up for friends, family and political causes. Her latest case is that of Meghan Markle and her father, Thomas Markle, who has been dominating headlines since missing his daughter’s royal wedding on May 19. The supermodel took to Twitter to voice her concern in a post that has garnered nearly 7,000 retweets.

The post features two screengrabs of headlines, along with a message from Chrissy, which reads: “this guy…this guy sucks. What is wrong with him? Let your daughter be happy, please. This is embarrassing.” The headlines put a couple quotes from Thomas to the forefront, such as one where he claims “perhaps it would be easier if I was dead.” In another quote, he mentions Prince Harry’s late mother Princess Diana, and that she apparently “would have loathed the way I’ve been treated.”

Meghan’s half-sister, Samantha Markle, was quick to join the conversation and respond to the mother of two’s tweets. Sharing a screenshot of a story by People, Samantha wrote: “So this pudgy airhead @Christinetiegen Who knows nobody in the family is opening her pie hole? “This guy” is our father and deserves a lot of respect,.. you are the one who sucks.”

While Chrissy and Meghan aren’t known to have a personal relationship, the duchess is lucky to have many high-profile pals in her corner – especially with all the drama surrounding her family. Priyanka Chopra, who reportedly hung out at Prince Harry and Meghan’s country home recently with her new fiancé Nick Jonas, has had no shortage of praise for her gal pal. "With her, what you see is real, and what you get is a relatable young woman with her heart and mind in the right place,” the Quantico star penned in her TIME 100 essay on the royal. “Her compassion, evident in the causes she supports, and her drive to break down stereotypes—obvious in her actions—will connect her to a generation in much need of kindness." Tennis ace Serena Williams has also applauded her 36-year-old bestie, saying “her personality shines.”
