We absolutely love when the worlds of Hollywood and British royalty collide in the most heartwarming of ways. Kim Kardashian has taken on a cause that’s also close to the hearts of the Fab Four – the mental health of young people. The reality star just announced that she’s teaming up with non-profit organization Child Mind Institute, a charitable foundation that has similar values to Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Prince William and Duchess Kate’s Heads Together.
On the Facebook page for her fundraiser, the 37-year-old star wrote: “As a mother of three, I think nothing is more important than my children’s health. This includes their physical and mental health. Over 17 million kids in the US struggle with mental health or learning disorders like anxiety, ADHD, dyslexia or depression, making it hard for them to learn and succeed. Yet with proper diagnosis and treatment, these children can thrive.”
The celebrity mom makes sure to put her kids’ health at the forefront, especially now that one of her children, five-year-old North West, is in school. Kim knows how important it is to return to the classroom with a solid foundation. Her statement continued: “As students return to the classroom this fall, I want to do what I can to make sure they have all they need to succeed in school and in life, now and in the future.”
This is the first Facebook fundraiser that the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star has ever done. She called for her followers – a whopping 29 million on Facebook alone – to donate $5, $50 or $500 and anything in between to the cause because “every dollar helps!” And we’re sure the Fab Four can agree that youth mental health is worth every penny. The British princes and Duchess Kate spearheaded the Heads Together campaign, a charitable foundation that focuses on improving youth and adult mental health and removing the stigma around it. The team now includes the newly minted Duchess of Sussex, who also holds mental health advocacy – among many other issues – close to her heart.
