Stars pay tribute to Aretha Franklin as she passes away at age 76

Beyonce said "we love you" as she and JAY-Z dedicated their Detroit concert to the then-ailing Aretha Franklin, who influenced generations of singers over her six-decade career. Mariah Carey, Sheryl Crow, Patti LaBelle, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Missy Elliott and more sent prayers as the Queen of Soul spent her final days in hospice care at home in Detroit. She passed away at age 76 on Aug. 16, causing another outpouring of tributes to the R&B legend who demanded "Respect" - and earned it!

"this is truly a sad day," tweeted Ava DuVernay. "rest peacefully queen. icon." Hugh Jackman revealed that the singer was there for one of his most unforgettable moments. "One of the highlights of my career was singing with #ArethaFranklin at The Tony Awards. It was an out of body experience for me. One of the greatest singers of all time. You Will be missed."

See all the stars who paid tribute to the iconic singer, who started performing as a child in her father's church before signing her first record deal at 1960, amassing 18 GRAMMY wins and becoming the first woman inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987.
