Keira Knightley let her hair down (literally!) to dance the night away at her TIFF after-party

Last night, what I’d like to dub the party of the festival was over on the main floor at Soho House, where stars Keira Knightley and Dominic West were on hand as Grey Goose hosted the premiere after-party for Colette. Walking into the room, guests were transported to a different time thanks to a soundtrack of 1930s jazz music – exclusively by female artists, of course, given the film’s feminist protagonist. Keira looked as elegant as ever in Chanel, perched on a couch in a reserved area, where she sat sipping water for the first hour of the evening. Dominic stayed close but was happy to chat with fellow partygoers who approached.

Then something happened at 9:30 pm…

I caught Keira accepting a cocktail as the DJ started to run the tunes through the decades. A shift was felt in the room, and I can only describe the feeling in the air as prom night – this idea that it’s now or never, we only have tonight. It was the last of a series of A-list events hosted by Grey Goose, and suddenly everyone started to let their hair down, literally. Keira took the barrettes out of her locks, threw it into a topknot, got off the couch and got down, down, down, clutching her drink while moving to the beat. The room erupted into a full-on dance party, started by Dominic, who took off his suit jacket and started shimmying along to songs like "Twist and Shout." Watching the stars belt out tunes and dance like no one is watching well past the end of their fete was the breakthrough scene I never knew I needed and a party, a moment, a feeling that will stay with me forever.

Earlier in the evening it was another night, another Nicole Kidmanhang – this time at the internationally acclaimed Serpentine Pavilion, which arrived in Toronto just in time for TIFF. With this architectural wonder as the backdrop, Westbank and Focus Features toasted the A-lister’s second festival film, Boy Erased , ahead of its premiere. In complete contrast to her look the night prior, Nicole showed up in a slinky black asymmetrical dress with long sleeves and a deep side slit, her long blonde locks pulled back in an appropriately conceptual pony. Ever the class act, the 51-year-old gracefully made her way over to chat with her much-younger castmates, listening to each and every one as if they were the only people in the room.

Over at Bisha Hotel’s Mister C Bar Room, Hollywood’s pretty young things were on-site celebrating Assassination Nation before hitting the red carpet at the premiere. As star Suki Waterhouse made her entrance, the DJ turned the tunes up, up, up and blasted “This Is How We Do It,” as if it were her up-to-bat song. She was joined by co-stars Odessa Young, Hari Nef, Suki, Bella Thorne and singer Abra. Playing on the theme of the satirical teen thriller, guests sipped appropriately crimson-hued CÎROC “Assassinator” cocktails from female servers in red PVC trench coats.

To end the night, CÎROC and Tequila Don Julio toasted the cast of Green Book at RBC House. Mahershala Ali was the first to arrive and immediately began to engage with partygoers on his way to his booth. He and co-stars Viggo Mortensen and Linda Cardellini hung close to their reserved areas but obliged fans with photos and chats. Notable guest appearances included actor Michael Shannon, TIFF Artistic Director and Co-Head Cameron Bailey and singer Fefe Dobson. After that, it was back to Soho House for a night cap, where Dominic West was still getting his groove on, this time on the second floor, before heading back to his hotel for a much-deserved rest.

Check out our recap of night one here , night two here (spoiler: Natalie Portman reprised her SNL rap), night three here (where Ben Stiller ribbed the Property Brothers) and night four right here (where a rumoured couple definitely looked on!) and night five over here ( the sweet reason Carey Mulligan left her party early )
