Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas may have just gotten engaged in August, but it sounds like a baby could be right around the corner! While stepping out for the Golden Heart Awards in New York on Wednesday (Oct. 17), the Quantico star opened up about the possibility – and with BFFs like Meghan Markle announcing their own pregnancies, Priyanka seems eager to hop on the baby train.
Both Priyanka and Nick are big family people, so it’s not surprising that they’d want to start one of their own soon. Speaking to E! News at the charitable event, the 36-year-old was asked how she felt about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex ’s exciting news. “I just have a few of my friends who are having babies right now and I’m like, ‘God, I need to catch up,’” she shared with a laugh. Though Baby Sussex will arrive before baby Chopra-Jonas, we’re willing to bet that Priyanka will get some quality time with her friend’s little one on a visit to London next year.
Back when the actor and singer first got engaged, they celebrated with a beautiful trip to India, which saw both of their families unite for a traditional engagement party. The Bollywood star and her 25-year-old fiancé enjoyed a Roka ceremony, which is the customary way to mark an engagement in her home country. Not long after the heartwarming event, the couple decided to lend their time to a cause with which Priyanka has been involved for over a decade. Showing off their big hearts – and paternal instincts! – the Jonas brother and Priyanka visited St. Catherine’s Home for Orphans in Mumbai, where they sang, danced and interacted with the youngsters.
When the industry pros first got engaged, an insider told E! News that Meghan was “very excited.” Priyanka and Meghan have been friends for a long time since first meeting at Elle’s Women in Television dinner in Jan. 2016, where they hit it off immediately. “We bonded as actors,” Chopra told Peoplethat year. “We just became friends, as two girls would.” But these friends have a lot more in common than just a background in acting – along with their partners, they hold special causes like youth empowerment and education close to their hearts. “Priyanka is unbelievable, she’s become a really good friend,” Meghan told The Indian Express in 2016. “You know when you meet someone and you just click … It was an easy, natural progression.”
