What a day for Michael Bublé! Not only did he release his highly anticipated tenth studio album, love, on Friday (Nov. 16) but he was also feted at the unveiling of his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. This marks the doting dad's second star, as he's already got one on his home country's Walk of Fame. The Canadian crooner was introduced by two of his close industry friends, Priscilla Presley and record producer David Foster - and the emotional day saw him tear up as he accepted the honour.
As always, the 43-year-old's loving wife, Luisana Lopilato, was on hand to cheer on and support her husband from the sidelines. Their three children – Noah, 5, Elias, 2 and three-month old Vida – stayed at home, but were, of course, on Michael's mind as he said his thanks. "My wife ... There's nothing really I can say that can express how I feel about her and what we've been through. She's my hero and my rock," he gushed, wiping away tears. "My children, who have given me a purpose for life, and have made days like this even sweeter because I can truly understand how beautiful the good moments are."
The couple have had a tough two years after their eldest son, Noah, was diagnosed with cancer. It forced the Canadian star to really think about his priorities, even telling Australia's TODAY Show that, at one point, he wasn't sure if he'd return to music at all. "I wanted to spend all my time with my wife and kids. That was my focus,” he said in a statement when announcing his new album. “During that time, I also learned how much love and humanity is out in the world from the prayers and good wishes we received. But slowly, along with understanding what my priorities in life are, I began to feel a new commitment to express the emotions and lessons I’ve embraced.”
He continued on with his touching speech: "My record being out today and having a star here on the Walk of Fame, I have personally never felt so self-important before," he said with a laugh. "I think everyone in this business probably struggles with not mixing up who you are with what you do and trying to separate your ego from your spirit, cause they are two very different things and on the flight over here, I sort of have an epiphany and I realized that out of all the wonderful celebrations and honours that could be bestowed upon any entertainer. This may be the greatest opportunity to truly know that its not about you. It really isn't."
