Lady Gaga says Celine Dion ‘outperformed’ her in Las Vegas

By Meaghan Wray

Celine Dion may have said au revoir to her beloved Las Vegas residency, but that doesn’t mean she’s given up popping into her colleague’s acts. To ring in the New Year on Dec. 31, the Canadian star had the time of her life at one of Lady Gaga’s first Sin City shows of the year – and she may have outdone the Golden Globe winner!

Videos surfaced of the Quebec native showing off her incredible moves during the “Shallow” singer’s gig, belting out each lyric from the blonde bombshell’s hits. And while on the red carpet at Sunday’s (Jan. 6) Golden Globes, Gaga – who made her silver-screen debut in the critically acclaimed drama A Star Is Born – joked that Celine “outperformed” her.

“She inspired my performance,” Lady Gaga gushed. “I watched that video after I did that show and then the next night, when I sang ‘Edge of Glory,’ I was doing all the moves that Celine was doing. She outperformed me while I was singing!” Of course, it was all in good fun and the 32-year-old was clearly honoured to count the chanteuse as one of her biggest fans. “You know what is so wonderful? She is so kind,” she revealed.

The 50-year-old took to Twitter to sing the praises of the pop star, writing: “I had so much fun last night @LadyGaga! Your energy on stage is contagious and you literally took my breath away! I wish you all the best with your Vegas residency!” After the performance, Celine made sure to sneak backstage to get an adorable photo with the blue-haired singer, which Lady Gaga shared on her own Twitter account later that night. Though the Golden Globe winner clearly doesn’t need any advice, we’re willing to bet that Vegas veteran Celine shared a few words of wisdom before heading home.
