Kate Hudson’s mom Goldie Hawn got a little too close in the delivery room

Kate Hudson had a very busy delivery room, but one person got extra close during the delivery of her third child: ecstatic grandma Goldie Hawn! During a guest co-hosting gig on The Ellen DeGeneres Show , Kate admitted that her mom "was right in there" when she welcomed her daughter, Rani Rose, on Oct. 2. "As you might know, we had my daughter," Kate said with a laugh, "which is kind of how it goes down in the birthing room, anyway."

Goldie re-enacted the delivery, showing how she was close enough to see the baby's head pop out: "[The doctor] was sort of like this, leaning down, doing the thing…and I'm trying to get in on him to try to look over his shoulder," she said. "Now I see the head and I'm going, 'Oh! There's the head!' Then it went back, and he said, 'Goldie, if you get any closer, you're going to fall in!'"

This time around, Kate, 39, tried to give birth without medication, but she feared missing out on all the family fun! Finding it hard to keep up with conversations in the birthing room, the social butterfly revealed that she ended up asking the nurse for an epidural.

Goldie, 73, also revealed that she had to ask her daughter for permission to be in the delivery room because of her antics during the birth of Kate’s now-7-year-old son, Bingham. According to the Snatched star, she did everything a person wasn't supposed to do to a woman in labor: she ate Doritos in front of her daughter, brought her a lotus to smell and was told by Kate during a contraction to “shut up.”

The pair were natural co-hosts, kicking off the show with a classic audience dance. The mother-daughter duo also interviewed their pal, Gwyneth Paltrow, who admitted to being obsessed with Goldie since she was a child.
