Julia Roberts is really living her best Instagram life! The 51-year-old star joined the social media site about seven months ago, and at a WSJ Magazine Talents and Legends Dinner on Monday (Jan. 28), she opened up about how she uses the platform... And who she follows.
“I do what I can when I can and it’s just so, in that way, it’s fun. It doesn’t feel like work,” she told People. “I do enjoy it. But the nice thing is, you know, I was actually just talking to a girlfriend today and saying it’s nice that I don’t feel pressure or responsibility.”
At the dinner, which honoured her Ben is Back co-star Lucas Hedges, she also shared details on who she loves to follow. “Molly Yeh is a chef who I really enjoy and I follow her and I love Josh Brolin,” she revealed. “I think [he] is a brilliant Instagrammer. Great Instagrammer.” She’s also a fan of Carrie Bradshaw: “Sarah Jessica Parker is really good… So yeah, there’s some fun things, for sure.”
It’s a stark turnaround for the Homecoming star who, told Marie Claire in 2013 that she wanted to avoid social media because she didn’t want to get addicted. “[Social media] is kind of like cotton candy: it looks so appealing and you just can’t resist getting in there, and then you just end up with sticky fingers and it lasted an instant."
Since she posted her first snap in June (with the simple caption “Hello!"), the award-winning actress has amassed 4.7 million followers, and has shared a variety of snaps of her on set with co-stars, as well as pictures of her celebrating her best friends – including Gwyneth Paltrow and Oprah Winfrey.
