Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper steal the show with romantic 'Shallow' duet

Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper captured the hearts of Oscar viewers around the world with their emotional duet at this year's Academy Awards on Sunday (Feb. 24.) Holding each other's hands and taking to the stage from their seats in the audience, the dynamic duo broke into their hit song, "Shallow."

The famous duo performed a passionate rendition of the song from A Star is Born, bringing their silver screen characters of Ally and Jackson Maine back to life for one night. They sang their verses to each other before Bradley joined the "Poker Face" singer on her piano bench to finish off the song to a standing ovation. The tune was among the five nominations for Best Original Song at the annual awards ceremony, which took place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles.

But this wasn't the first time the singer and Bradley, 44, have performed this song together on stage. Back in late January, the actor joined Lady Gaga on stage during her Las Vegas ENIGMA tour, showing off their off-screen chemistry.

In a video captured by an excited fan and published by Gaga Daily on YouTube, the film's director walked from backstage to hug the musician. Taking a seat on a stool and grabbing his microphone, Lady Gaga kneeled beside him, watching him sing the first verse.

Clearly overcome with emotion, the "Poker Face" singer – who joined "Shallow" co-writer Mark Ronson in taking home a Golden Globe earlier this month – wiped away tears before taking her spot at her piano. After Gaga sang her verse, the stars joined each other for a powerful chorus, likely not leaving a dry tear in the room. Much to the crowd's delight, Bradley threw in a little air guitar as his co-star finished up the song with its famous dramatic ending.

Though the GRAMMY winner performed the hit at an ENIGMA show in December last year, this was the first time the two took their stunning track off the silver screen. "Shallow" is nominated for an Oscar and previously took home the gold for best song at the Golden Globes and the Critics' Choice Awards. Both Bradley and Lady Gaga are nominated for best actor and actress at the Academy Awards on Feb. 24.
