One of Hollywood's favourite couples, Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez, got engaged on March 9. The A-list couple – who have spent the last two years jet-setting and melding their two adorable families – are very likely going to have a celebrity wedding that goes down in history books. But the recent news has many fans wondering: who will play a role in the singer's wedding party?
Even though the engagement news (and 15-carat diamond, which is estimated to be worth more than $1 million!) were just celebrated across social media, it looks like the 49-year-old can already cross “find a Maid of Honour” off her wedding to-do list. In the Instagram post announcing her engagement, Jennifer only tagged one person: Ellen DeGeneres.
While The Ellen Show may seem like a surprising tag for such a personal announcement, it may be about more than just trying to land another spot on the talk show. During one of Ellen‘s February episodes, Ellen gifted the couple with an anniversary clock. “It’s basically to remind him that time is ticking… and he should hurry up and propose,” the 61-year-old joked.
Only a few weeks later, J.Lo and A-Rod made it official. In response to the recent Instagram tag, The Ellen Show Instagram account commented: “Yes. I’ll be your Maid of Honour.” While it's uncertain if Ellen will actually accompany J.Lo on her big day, it's likely she'd make an amazing maid of honour.
The talk show host has long been a supporter of the couple’s relationship. In November 2018, Ellen told Jennifer that her former baseball-playing beau had texted her that he was ready to propose.“You should [get married], because y’all seem very happy,” Ellen said. “I mean, it would be good to do for Christmas.” Clearly, Portia de Rossi's wife is emphatically team #JRod and whether or not she makes the cut as Maid of Honour, it's seeming like she'll definitely score an invite.
