When former Glee star Lea Michele married Zandy Reich on March 9, she looked every part the beautiful, blushing bride. Now, we finally have more details about how she crafted her sensational and timeless look.
According to People, the actress worked exclusively with her go-to stylist Brad Goreski and designer Monique Lhuillier to create the custom dress that was fit for a princess.
“My dress is very classic, which was very important to me,” Lea said of the strapless ball gown she chose. “It’s important to [Zandy and I] that we look back on our photos, and that they’re classic. I wanted to stay away from a lot of current trends.”
Lea told the publication she knew she wanted to work with Monique from day one. She said she wanted to create something thrilling for the couple’s special day. “Monique is so beautiful, and so talented and she let me try on every single dress,” she said, recounting what it was like to pick out “the one” in front of family and friends. “In the entire wedding process, that was one of my most favourite moments, being at that fitting with Brad, and with my mom, and letting my mom see me wearing my wedding dress for the first time was so magical.”
Lea shared the first snap of her wedding dress on Instagram a day after she and Zandy tied the knot. The pair’s intimate ceremony took place in northern California, and was attended by several of her former co-stars. Glee’s Darren Criss and Becca Tobin were there, as was actress and singer Emma Roberts, with whom Lea worked in Scream Queens. Glee creator Ryan Murphy, who is one of Lea’s close friends, officiated the ceremony.
For her part, Monique told People she feels lucky to have been part of the couple’s special day. “I’ve had the pleasure of dressing her through the years, so when she asked me to design her wedding gown, I was truly honoured,” she said. “Lea is a fashion girl and knows what works on her. She came with a vision and together we made it a reality… Working with [her] was an absolute dream.”
Lea and Zandy had been dating for a year when they announced their engagement in April 2018. She had previously been in a relationship with her Glee co-star Cory Monteith until he passed away in 2013.
