Justin Bieber returns to the stage to help Ariana Grande close Coachella

As if bringing four-fifths of *NSYNC on stage last week wasn’t already enough, Ariana Grande took it up a notch and convinced Justin Bieber to make a return to performing as she closed Coachella on Sunday (April 21) night.

Ariana was finishing her second headlining set at the popular music festival when she asked Justin to come out on stage. “I wasn’t going to bring any guests out tonight,” Ariana said, according to Variety. “But my friend Justin Bieber came all the way out.” Cue the screaming. “We thought it might be fun to do something for you guys,” Ariana said. The two performed Justin’s 2015 smash, “Sorry.” Cue more screaming.

“I had no idea I was going to be on a stage tonight,” Variety reports Justin told the crowd after they finished the tune. “I wore this fly outfit not knowing I was going to be on stage.”

“I haven’t been on stage in like two years,” he continued, according to People. “I had to get my groove back, my swag back. By the way, new album coming soon.” Cue even more screaming.

Just last month, Justin announced he was going to be taking a hiatus from music to work on some personal issues. His last album was 2015’s Purpose, and his most recent single was 2017’s “Friends.” His fans are clearly hungry for him to release new material. He recently was reported to have bought a massive US$8.5 million mansion in Los Angeleswhere he plans to live with his partner, Hailey Baldwin.

Last week, Ariana reunited *NSYNC’s JC Chasez, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick at her first weekend headlining set for Coachella. The four joined Ariana for her hit “Break Up With Your Boyfriend, I’m Bored,” which samples *NSYNC’s “It Makes Me Ill.” They also then performed *NSYNC’s smash “Tearin’ Up My Heart.” Justin Timberlake wasn’t there because he was wrapping up his solo tour.
