On Friday (June 21), the political couple added Monaco royalty to their roster of visitors during their cross-the-pond trip. The former US first couple made high-profile visits with U2’s Bono and George and Amal Clooney, and also enjoyed a lavish dinner with Prince Albert of Monaco, Princess Charlene’s husband.
The trio dined at The Grill, People reports, surrounded by a lot of security. While the open-air restaurant overlooking the Garnier Opera House was something to write home about, we’re sure the contents of their conversation were even more special.
Albert, Michelle and Barack have long been friends through their mutual passion for raising awareness around environmental issues. The former US first family’s two daughters also joined them for the dinner.
The family of four then jetted off to Lake Como to spend some time with their friends George and Amal Clooney. On Saturday night, the pair of couples were spotted out together before George, 58, and Barack, 57, were seen arriving by boat at the Hollywood heavyweight’s home.
The Obamas spent the previous week vacationing in France, seeing the major sights, wine tasting, and also doing some hiking. That Friday, they enjoyed some of southern France’s best wine with musician Bono at The Edge at the Chevre d’Or in Ezé.
The family appears to have taken the trip to celebrate Sasha’s high school graduation. She’ll likely join her sister at college this fall, but her school of choice isn’t known yet. Malia is currently in her second year at Harvard.
