Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry’s wedding was watched by hundreds of millions of people around the world in 2018. Viewers were captivated as Meghan married into the Royal Family in a beautiful ceremony in which she looked gorgeous and happy in a Givenchy gown and gentle makeup done by her friend, Daniel Martin.

Daniel has just opened up about what it was like to be Meghan’s makeup artist for her big day, and he said she was incredibly casual about it!

“It was like, a friend asking me to do her wedding,” he said on the Gloss Angeles podcast, according to E! News. “I was like, ‘I’m happy you’re happy, of course I’ll do your makeup.’”

Many people would expect hours and hours of planning to go into such an event, especially when the bride is becoming a royal. But Daniel said unlike most weddings, there was no makeup trial beforehand.

““She’s the most chill person and that morning was just like, easy,” he said. “I didn’t have a makeup trial with her because we just couldn’t make the time. I knew what she liked and what she didn’t like. We exchanged, like, Pinterest pictures over text.”

Hundreds of people were waiting outside Windsor Castle to hopefully catch a glimpse of Harry and Meghan on their way to St. George’s Chapel, where they were wed. Daniel said his friend was so relaxed about the entire thing that he had no idea how big a deal the ceremony was until he was heading to the castle grounds.

“We were driving right behind her and we were just seeing people who had been outside for hours trying to just get a glimpse – that’s when we were like… ‘this is major.’”

As for being known as Meghan’s makeup artist, Daniel said he said that’s been “interesting” to hear people say and write.

“She gave me an incredible gift,” he said. “I don’t want to say it’s challenging, but I just have to know that that’s always going to be the case. And it’s not a bad thing to be associated with her, but that’s always going to be.”
