Barack Obama and Michelle Obama reveal their summer playlist

If you’re wondering what Barack Obama and Michelle Obama have been listening to this summer, you’re in luck: The former US president released tunes he the former US first lady have been enjoying over the warmer months.

It turns out the 44th American president and his wife of nearly 27 years have been listening to quite the eclectic mix – and there’s some prime Canadian content among the tunes! They picked songs by Drake, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello, Lizzo, John Legend, The Rolling Stones and Lil Nas X, among others.

“With the summer winding down, here’s a sampling of what Michelle and I have been listening to – some new, some old, some fast, some slow,” Barack tweeted. “Hope you enjoy.”

The Obamas have been getting their groov eon to summer’s biggest hits, such as Shawn and Camila’s “Señorita,” Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” remix, Lizzo’s “Juice” and timeless classics such as Frank Sinatra’s “I Got You Under My Skin.”

Barack’s tweet prompted quite the reaction online, especially from some of those featured on the playlist!

“I TWEETED THIS AT 10:26AM AND ONE HOUR LATER PRESIDENT @BarackObama TWEETED ABOUT ME!!!” Lizzo excitedly said when she retweeted the list. “WE’RE FRIENDS NOW I DON’T MAKE THE RULES!!!”

This isn’t the first time Barack and Michelle have shared what they’ve been enjoying with their followers. Barack told his fans he had been reading books by the late Toni Morrison, Colson Whitehead and Hilary Mantel earlier this summer.

Torontonians will soon get the chance to see Michelle when she visits the city in September! She’s set to speak at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts on Sept. 24.
