These are the 10 highest-paid women in music

Forbes has just released its list of the 10 highest-paid women in music, and the No. 1 earner raked in a massive US$185 million (before taxes) over the last year.
Her total gross income puts her more than US$100 million more than the superstar who comes in at No. 2 on the list.
The publication compiled its list looking at income from June 2018 to June 2019, using Nielsen and Pollstar data, along with interviews as its sources.
The list features veteran pop stars along with newcomers, one of whom is only 26 years of age. There’s also a Canadian on the list!

No. 10: Shakira
Earnings: US$35 million
Industry veteran Shakira can thank her El Dorado world tour, which wrapped in November 2018 and saw her travel everywhere from Europe to her home country of Colombia, for much of her earnings.

No. 9: Céline Dion
Earnings: US$37.5 million
Céline wrapped up her massively successful Las Vegas residency earlier this year, and it, along with album sales and downloads, is responsible for much of her earnings from June 2018 to June 2019.
We wouldn't be surprised if Céline shows up on this list again next year, and is higher than this year, especially considering her new album Courage comes out in November and her tour behind it kicks off next month!

No. 6: Ariana Grande
Earnings: US$48 million
Some people would say it's kind of nuts to release two albums right after each other, but not Ariana. The star dropped Sweetener and Thank U, Next within six months of each other last year, and they sold like hotcakes, becoming major reasons why she's on this list this year.

No. 3: Rihanna
Earnings: US$62 million
While she hasn't released an album since 2016's Anti, Rihanna is still taking home big bucks thanks to her Fenty beauty and fashion brands. They have proven massive hits worldwide, and it also helps that she sold a deal with LVMH, which distributes luxury goods.

No. 1: Taylor Swift
Earnings: US$185 million
Taylor's Reputation tour brought her a total of US$266 million from May to November 2018, and it's a big part of why she took the top spot on Forbes's list, along with her massive deal with Universal Republic. We wouldn't be surprised if she takes the top spot again next year now that new album Lover has proven to be such a huge hit in the first few days after its release!
