Brie Larson covers Miley Cyrus’s ‘Slide Away’

It looks like Brie Larson really enjoyed Miley Cyrus’s MTV Video Music Awards performance!

The star of Captain Marvel surprised fans when she shared a clip of her singing Miley’s “Slide Away” on Instagram on Aug. 27! The video, which was originally shared to her stories and has since made its way on to Twitter, shows Brie singing the tune while strumming an acoustic guitar.

Brie has been singing and playing music since very early in her career. She learned the guitar at age 11 and started writing her own songs and sharing them on her website soon thereafter.

Her first album, Finally Out of P.E., came out in 2005 and one of its singles was featured on MTV’s Total Request Live. She later toured with teen heartthrob Jesse McCartney before having her big acting breakthrough in United States of Tara. The Oscar-winner has also since appeared on Carpool Karaoke and performed Ariana Grandes “7 Rings” with Samuel L. Jackson.

Miley sang “Slide Away” on Aug. 26 at the VMAs, and she garnered quite a lot of praise for it online. Mindy Kaling called it “so good” and Naomi Campbell said her performance was “amazing.”

The performance came less than a week after Liam Hemsworth filed for divorce from Miley, whom he married earlier this year. Miley has made headlines for her holiday with Kaitlynn Carter, Brody Jenner's ex-girlfriend, and was seen holding her hand after the VMAs later that evening.
