Last year, Claire Foy appeared on The Graham Norton Show and said she thought people would forget all about her once Olivia Colman took over from her as the Queen on The Crown. How could we, since her incredible portrayal of Her Majesty’s early years on the throne has won her a BAFTA, Golden Globe, an Emmy and two Screen Actors Guild awards?
Claire’s humility aside, there’s no chance of us forgetting about her on the award-winning and acclaimed Netflix drama because she’s set to return for Season 4 for a special cameo!
Reports say Claire will return to film a flashback scene, set in 1947, which features Her Majesty making her famous radio broadcast in South Africa that coincided with her 21 st birthday. The actress was seen wearing an outfit similar to the Queen at the time, who wore a white dress and string of pearls.
In the speech, the then-Princess Elizabeth made her famous promise to faithfully serve the Commonwealth through all her years. If you need to refresh your memory, you can watch it below:
Season 4 is being filmed now, and it will see Olivia reprise her role as the Queen. It will also see the return of Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret, Tobias Menzies as Prince Philip, Josh O’Connor as Prince Charles, Erin Doherty as Princess Anne, and Emerald Fennell as Camilla Parker Bowles. It will introduce Gillian Anderson as late former UK Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and Emma Corrin as Princess Diana. It is set during the time of former UK Prime MinisterThatcherbeing in office through the marriage ofCharles and Diana in 1981 and the middle of that decade.
“We are currently filming season 4 of The Crown, but have not commissioned any further seasons as yet, therefore any news on casting remains pure speculation,” a spokesperson said in a statement.
