King of kindness Tom Hanks says he’s ‘gonna start crying’ as he reads nice tweets
By Zach Harper
The internet can frequently be an upsetting place full of angry comments, upset and sometimes… downright hatred. But Tom Hanks is here to make it better, and has given us all a special gift to mark American Thanksgiving – which we’ll definitely take, even if we’re north of the border.
The A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood star has produced a heartwarming new video with Twitter Movies in which he puts a twist on Jimmy Kimmel’s “Celebrities Read Mean Tweets” by narrating and commenting on… ones that are actually nice. (We’re shocked, too.)
He kicks things off by reading about a former McDonald’s worker who put 11 Chicken McNuggets in every 10-piece meal he made.

“That is a man who’s not only being nice, but he’s feeding the world a little bit better,” Tom commented. “And [he’s] bucking the corporate strategy. Bravo! That’s a nice thing to do.”
Who doesn’t love an extra McNugget?!

Tom nearly burst into tears when he read a tweet in which a girl writes about her father getting her a cake shaped like a heart after she was dumped. The doting father – who’s Dad of the Year, let’s be honest – made sure it was decorated with a message that read “You’re still my #1 Love, Dad.”
“I’m gonna start crying again, because that’s absolutely beautiful,” Tom said. “By the way, whoever broke up with you is a dope.”
You can see Tom playing the other King of Kind, Mr. Rogers, in A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, which is in theatres now.
