Adele shares message to front line workers battling COVID-19 on her 32nd birthday

Happy Birthday, Adele!

The singer posted a rare Instagram photo to mark her 32nd birthday on May 5, and used the opportunity to thank all of the front line emergency workers who are battling the coronavirus.

"Thank you for the birthday love. I hope you’re all staying safe and sane during this crazy time," she began the post.

"I'd like to thank all of our first responders and essential workers who are keeping us safe while risking their lives! You are truly our angels."

She closed the post, "2020 okay bye thanks x"

She included a photo of herself in a short black dress with dramatic balloon sleeves and coordinating pumps. Her blonde hair was styled straight and worn down.

The singer's post received over 4.4 million likes in less than 12 hours. Fans wished her happy birthday and also shared their wishes to front line workers battling COVID-19. Some also expressed their hopes about Adele's next album.

Reports earlier in the year hinted that the "25" singer could have been set to release a new album in the latter half of 2020 after she reportedly said at a friend's wedding "expect my album in September." However, no official announcement has been made, and there are rumours the album has been pushed back in light of the coronavirus pandemic, like numerous artists' releases have been.

The last time Adele posted on Instagram was Dec. 23, to wish fans Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. She uploaded two black-and-white photos: One featured her with the Grinch and another of her with Santa Claus!

As of this writing, Johns Hopkins University of Medicine reports there have been more than 3.6 million cases of COVID-19 confirmed in 187 countries and regions. The United Kingdom has more than 196,000 of those cases. The illness has killed more than 258,000 people globally, but more than 1.2 million people have recovered from it so far.
