Mary-Kate Olsen files for divorce from husband Olivier Sarkozy

Mary-Kate Olsen is divorcing her husband, Olivier Sarkozy, and the couple are ending their marriage of five years, reports say.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the Olsen twin is requesting an emergency court order to quicken the process in light of the coronavirus pandemic.

The couple was based in New York City, and with COVID-19 severely affecting the metropolitan area, divorce proceedings have become more complicated. New York courts have not been accepting divorce filings, except in cases of emergency.

The fashion designer reportedly filed a petition for divorce on April 17. She is now thought to be using an emergency order to seek an extension on the date to move out of the couple's apartment because of NYC's quarantine guidelines.

Mary-Kate and the French banker had largely kept their relationship out of the spotlight. They were thought to begin dating around May 2012. They got engaged in early 2014, and were quietly married in November 2015 in Manhattan.

This was the first marriage for 33-year-old Mary-Kate and the second for the 50-year-old. Olivier was previously married to French author Charlotte Bernard for 14 years, and they had two children together, Margot and Julien.

In a rare personal interview, Mary-Kate opened up in 2017 about what it was like being a stepmother and having a work-life balance.

"I have a husband, two step-kids and a life; I have to go home and cook dinner," she shared to Net-a-Porter 's The Edit.

During this difficult time, Mary-Kate is reportedly leaning on twin sister Ashley for support. The Row designers have reportedly left the Big Apple and are with friends, according to E! News.

We wish the former couple well as they navigate this divorce.
