Naya Rivera was reported missing on July 8 after she and four-year-old son Josey Dorsey went on a boat trip on Lake Piru in Ventura County, California. The former Glee actress is now presumed dead, according to authorities.
Earlier on July 9, the Ventura Co. Sheriff police department identified the star on their Twitter page after an earlier alert reported that they were searching for a "possible drowning victim."
"We're going on the belief that she did go in the water and we have not been able to locate her," Capt. Eric Buschow, a spokesperson for the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, said, according to USA Today. "So this may well be a case of drowning."
A search-and-rescue (SAR) operation took place last night of the area, after other boaters saw Josey asleep on a boat, and by himself.
In an update on July 9, the Venture Co. Sheriff Twitter reported the search would resume for the 33-year-old as soon as possible once day breaks.
"The search for Naya Rivera will continue this morning at Lake Piru. The lake will be closed to the public while search operations continue.
"Dive teams from throughout the region will be assisting us through mutual aid."

TMZ reported that Josey told authorities that "his mom had jumped in the water ... but didn't come back up."
Naya's life jacket was reportedly found in the boat and her vehicle was found in the parking lot of the boat rental company, with her purse inside
Josey, who Naya shared with ex-husband Ryan Dorsey, is doing alright and is now with family members.
We hope that Naya is found safe and our thoughts are with her family and young son.
