Former tennis star Boris Becker’s legal team returned to the High Court in London on Tuesday to iron out the details of a settlement with Russian model Angela Ermakova, with whom Boris fathered a child two years ago.
While the three-time Wimbledon champ had reportedly offered Angela £2 million to care for 15-month old baby Anna, Angela deemed the sum insufficient and the two went back to court.
“It is not the practice in proceedings such as this in England for the court to announce publicly the terms of the court order, but I think it’s appropriate in the circumstances to say that the court has approved the financial provision made by Mr Becker which is entirely reasonable and indeed generous,” said Mr Justice Johnson following the 90-minute hearing.
“Mr Becker recognises his obligations and there have been constructive discussions between lawyers acting for both parents. The result is that financial arrangements have been agreed.”
The exact figure of the agreement was not made public, but taking into account Angela’s smile as she exited the courtroom and the words of the judge, insiders say the sum is likely to be closer to £3 million.
Boris, who is reportedly attempting to reconcile with his ex-wife Barbara, who lives in Florida with their two children, has previously discussed his brief encounter with Angela. “That was an act which lasted five seconds,” he said. “Never seen her before. Didn’t see her again. It was a mistake which will haunt me for the rest of my life. The result is brutal for me, but also particularly for my wife, my children, my mother.”
Boris, who is reputedly worth £60 million, at first denied he was baby Anna’s father, but following DNA tests he admitted the child was his.
