Kate Hudson and her husband Chris Robinson have decided to go their separate ways after six years of marriage. The Almost Famous star's spokesperson Brad Cafarelli said the couple "have confirmed they are separated".

Once asked if love was enough, Kate had replied: "Marriage, relationships, no matter if you're married or not, are never, ever easy."

The Oscar-nominated actress, 27, and Black Crowes lead singer Chris, 39, wed on New Year's Eve in 2000 after a whirlwind, year-long romance. Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones were among the guests at the white winter-themed evening ceremony held at Kate's parents home in Aspen. The couple's son Ryder Russell, now two, was born four years later on January 7, 2004.

"I was okay being alone," said Kate. "I wasn't somebody who always needed to be in a relationship, I was out with my girlfriends in New York having a great time and boom! There he was. We just kind of met and that was it. Every rule went out the window. We were telling each other we loved each other by the fourth day. I moved in in a week."

It's a busy time for the celebrity duo. The Skeleton Key star, who has three more films in the pipeline, has been busy promoting her latest comedy You, Me And Dupree which co-stars Owen Wilson and Matt Dillon. Meanwhile rocker Chris, who was previously married to actress Lala Cassandra Sloaman for two years until their divorce in 1998, has a packed tour schedule with his band in the States for the next few months.
