No divorce deal agreed say Heather's lawyers

Lawyers representing Heather Mills McCartney have denied newspaper claims that she has agreed to a financial settlement with estranged husband Sir Paul McCartney, meaning divorce proceedings are likely to go ahead in July.

A report in Sunday's The News Of The World stated the 39-year-old mum had accepted an out-of-court settlement worth £32 million. Had that been the case, it would have been in line with the former Beatle's expressed desire to keep details of the break-up under wraps.

"When you are going through difficulties, I think the thing to do for the sake of all the people concerned is to keep a certain dignity and remember that it is a private affair," he said last November.

The 64-year-old singer is being represented by Fiona Shackleton, the lawyer who handled Prince Charles' divorce, while Heather is using the services of Anthony Julius, who represented Princess Diana.

"There has been no offer made whatsoever at any time to our client and therefore no settlement has been agreed," revealed a statement issued by Heather's solicitors Mischcon de Reya.
