Nicole Kidman and Tim Roth bring back Monaco's golden era as Grace and Rainier

The year is 1961, and Grace Kelly has already spent half a decade bringing Hollywood glamour to her role as Princess of Monaco.But when her husband, Prince Rainier III, faces a crisis because of pressure from France to review the principality's standing as a tax haven, the screen goddess is required to give him all her support.A new film, starring Nicole Kidman, will capture this dramatic moment in the history of the jet set playground.

Meanwhile, Tim Roth has been cast as the Monegasque patriarch in Grace of Monaco.Best known for his work in cult films Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction, Tim will now pour his efforts into portraying the ambitious and tenacious royal who broke tradition to wed one of the most enchanting actresses ever to come out of the Hollywood dream factory. Spanish actress Paz Vega will feature as opera legend Maria Callas. At the time, she was dating shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis, and was one of Princess Grace's closest friends.

Cameras are scheduled to start rolling this autumn in France. Director Olivier Dahan, best known for the Oscar-winning La Vie en Rose, will be at the helm. While Tinseltown prepares chronicle the golden era when Princess Grace was at the height of her popularity, her children will no doubt be watching with interest. Monaco's Prince Albert and his siblings Caroline and Stephanie continue their mother's legacy today, and will take a keen interest in the film's development.
