'I don't care if people hate me,' says Kristen Stewart as she apologises for making people 'angry'

Kristen Stewart faced criticism after pictures surfaced of the young actress in an apparent clinch with married Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Saunders. But it seems any hurtful remarks directed at the brunette star haven't upset her that much. It's not a terrible thing if you're either loved or hated, the actress says in a new interview with Newsweek. But honestly, I don't care 'cause it doesn't keep me from doing my (things).

The actress did however have one regret. "I apologise to everyone for making them so angry. It was not my intention," says Kristen, who also talked about her "refusal to kowtow to the celebrity-industrial complex".She added: 'It's a little annoying having to be so compartmentalised. I go from box to box to box."

Kristen did say that she feels like she is getting braver about going out in public. "I'm going out a lot more now, I was starting to get closed off and self-conscious, and I'm trudging forth into the world more often." The Twilight star is reportedly set to return for the Snow White and the Huntsman sequel, though it's thought director Rupert (below) will not step behind the camera for the follow-up.

She hit headlines around the world in July when compromising pictures surfaced of Kristen and the film-maker, who is married to a British model Liberty Ross. The couple have two children - Skyla, seven, and Tennyson, five. The brunette star then issued a public apology to her boyfriend, Robert Pattinson. She said: "I'm deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I've caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected.

This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I'm so sorry."

Kristen retreated from the spotlight for a while, but there was no such luxury for Rob, who hit the promotional trail for his David Kronenberg move Cosmopolis shortly after moving out of the couple's LA pad and spending time away at the California estate of his Water For Elephants co-star Reese Witherspoon. Friends maintained the couple "couldn't live without each other", though, and after a series of tearful phone calls, they apparently met up and decided to give things another go.

The pair certainly seemed back on track as they attended their first red carpet event after claims of Kristen's infidelity, at the world premiere of Breaking Dawn: Part 2. The couple were spotted last month at New York's JFK airport after returning from London, where they apparently spent time with Rob's family over the Thanksgiving break.

Kristen is said to have made up with the British star's sisters Lizzy and Victoria. A source says: 'It was really important for Kristen to win back the love and trust of Rob's family, and she has done just that. "They are all back on really good terms - even better than before. Kristen reached out to Rob's sisters and expressed how sorry she was. They are proud of how far she has come and they know she has been treating their brother like gold."
