Celebs on Paris shooting: Harry Styles and Cara Delevingne speak out

Harry Styles and Cara Delevingne have joined those expressing solidarity with the victims of the terrorist attack in France where gunmen killed 12 people, most of them journalists, at satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo. The One Direction star said he was "sad" to hear about the atrocities and that he was thinking of everyone.

Cara Delevingne posted in defence of free speech while Harry Style spoke of his sadness

His former flame Cara used Instagram to post comments about free speech, one of them a quote by Voltaire. She tagged the other one #dayofsorrow and #jesuischarlie or I am Charlie. Her followers thanked her for the support, many of them writing in French.

David Walliams tweeted a picture of Salman Rushdie and an excerpt from the author's speech in defence of Charlie Hebdo. Another of his tweets saying the actions of the terrorists "can never be the will of any god", was retweeted a million times.

Julianne Moore, Mark Ruffalo, JK Rowling and Elijah Wood also added their voices to the chorus of support for victims.

France will observe a minute's silence at midday (11GMT) and the bells of Notre Dame cathedral in Paris will toll as the nation struggles to come to terms with the devastating atrocity.

The French flag is flying at half-mast over the Elysee Palace in the capital.Meanwhile, President Francois Hollande presided over an emergency cabinet meeting. Police are still hunting two main suspects while seven others have been detained for questioning.
