Emma Watson has denied that she is dating Prince Harry. The brunette beauty reached out to her fans on Twitter to clarify that there was no truth in the rumours.

"WORLD. Remember that little talk we had about not believing everything written in the media?!" wrote Emma to her 16.5 million followers.

The post was instantly acknowledged by her fans, gaining more than 9,000 retweets and 16,000 likes in the first half hour.

Emma Watson warned fans not to believe everything they read

Earlier this week Australian magazine Woman's Day reported that Prince Harry and Emma had been enjoying secret dates together and were gradually getting to know one another.

The publication claimed that following Emma's split from Oxford University student Matt Janney, Harry asked his friends to help him invite Emma along to a party he was hosting.

"Harry didn't want her to feel like she was put on the spot," an insider reportedly told Woman's Day. "A party also shows he's fun and not stuffy."

Emma Watson and Prince Harry were reported to have enjoyed secret dates together

While Emma has never officially been seen with Prince Harry at a public engagement, she rubbed shoulders with his brother Prince William at a star-studded dinner held at Windsor Castle to celebrate the work of The Royal Marsden hospital last year.

Speculation that Emma and Harry were an item caused confusion and disbelief among fans. While many noted that the couple would have made a sweet match, the actress' legion of fans commented online that they knew better.

"Oh Emma, bringing the world back to reality as per usual! I knew it sounded more than ridiculous that you would be dating Harry," wrote one Twitter follower, while others flooded her account with messages declaring: "I love you."

The sassy star is undoubtedly accomplished. Emma, 24, first rose to fame playing Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter movie series. Apart from her filming work, she has also helped launch the UN Women campaign HeForShe, as well as graduating from Brown University with a degree in English literature.

Emma started dating Oxford University student Matt for one year but the pair split last December. The actress' busy work schedule left little time for her to focus on the relationship. A spokesperson confirmed that relations were "amicable" between the duo.
