Simon Cowell reveals job preference for son Eric

Simon Cowell might have made millions from his hit TV shows, but he doesn't necessarily want his son Eric to follow in his footsteps. The X Factor mogul has admitted he would prefer his little boy to work behind a desk rather than in front of the cameras when he grows up. "Yes, I would rather he do that, yes," he told Richard Arnold during a recent interview on Good Morning Britain, joking that he would set his 15-month-old son to work in "seven or eight years". Looking around his office, he then quipped, "In here."

Simon also revealed that he would encourage Eric to pursue a different path, rather than further education. "I always believe in the apprentice thing, where you learn from other people and that's what I would say to him, which is absolutely start at the bottom and you get to find out who you like and how you communicate with people and that's what I would say to him. And be kind to animals!"The 55-year-old touched on a number of topics during the interview – including Zayn Malik's shock exit from 1D, and the 'feud' between Louis Walsh and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini.

Simon confirmed that he is not looking for anyone to replace Zayn following his departure from One Direction. "No, I don't think so, they're doing fine," he said. "When it happened (there was) no warning – nothing – and they just were still doing these huge tours and they dealt with it. "He was then asked whether or not Louis will be returning to the X Factor panel this year. "I'm not sitting in the dark going, 'You know what, today I'll fire Louis," the TV star said. "It is what it is, you know. But it does irritate me sometime thinking, I'm not the only person making this decision."

Simon then said of Louis' relationship with fellow X Factor judge Cheryl, "there was always going to be a clash"."They never liked each other those two… (When Cheryl was in Girls Aloud) he was their manager. Now Louis managing a girl band – disaster. He just doesn't do it well."
