Her husband Michael Douglas has not yet commented on the loss of his mother, but Catherine Zeta-Jones spoke for the whole family when she paid tribute to West Wing actress Diana Douglas on Instagram. The Welsh beauty shared a vintage photo of her mother-in-law, who died on Friday at the age of 92 after a battle with cancer.

Catherine wrote: "Diana we are so grateful to have had you in our lives. We will miss you everyday. Until we meet again...Love you very much."

The couple are currently promoting Michael's film Ant-Man in London where the 70-year-old actor was seen looking sombre along with his wife.

After a tricky time in their marriage in 2013, the Douglases are more united than ever. Catherine was by her husband's side with their two children Dylan and Carys at an emotional ceremony when he accepted the Genesis Prize – described as the equivalent of a Nobel prize in the Jewish world.

Michael and Catherine took the opportunity to have "an amazing family vacation" in Israel, pictures of which she also shared on her social media site. The Chicago star must be glad her husband had time to relax before the stress of a promotional tour and the death of his mother.

After her divorce from Kirk, she married two more times. Diana was with Broadway producer Bill Darrid from 1956 until his death in 1992. She is survived by her third husband Donald Webster.
