Adele celebrated her successful comeback by sharing an adorable childhood photo on Thursday. The 27-year-old, who has broken records with her new single Hello, said she was "blown away" by the reception her new music had been given.

The Oscar-winning singer posted a throwback passport photo from when she was a child on her new Instagram account, showing herself grinning happily with her two front teeth missing.

"Throwing it way back with this! Thank you for all the love, I am so blown away. X #TBT," Adele captioned the image, which quickly attracted almost 70,000 likes from fans.

Adele certainly has cause to be overwhelmed as the release of her first single in three years has had an unprecedented response, leading to complimentary tweets from celebrities including Emma Watson, Britney Spears and Katy Perry.

Not only has Hello topped the iTunes charts in over 100 countries, but it has also broken the record for the most viewed video in 24 hours on Vevo with 27.7 million views on its first day – smashing Taylor Swift's record of 20.1 million views for Bad Blood earlier this year.

Adele's upcoming album 25 has also topped the pre-order chart in 93 countries, indicating that is set to match – if not exceed – the success of her 2011 album 21.

Now the singer is set to record a one-off hour long special to be broadcast on BBC One in November featuring both her greatest hits and tracks off her new album. The world-exclusive show will be Adele's first television performance since the Oscars in February 2013, and will include interviews with Adele talking about her career and life to date.

Although she has achieved incredible success throughout her career, the talented singer-songwriter insisted on Friday that she is still as down-to-earth as ever.

"I do shop at Waitrose these days. That's the biggest change," she laughingly told Nick Grimshaw. "And I've got a plasma."
