American President Barack Obama was quick to speak about the eight deadly attacks. Giving a speech from the White House he called the attacks on the French capital an "outrageous attempt to terrorise innocent civilians". Condemning the acts of these radicals he said that this was “an attack on humanity” and that the world will do whatever it can to support France in its fight against terrorism. As an act of solidarity many famous monuments around the world were lit up in red, white and blue, the colours of the French flag.
