Alex Jones has said she thinks it would be "amazing" to start a family. The television presenter, who wed her partner Charlie Thomson on New Year's Eve, has opened up about married life and her hopes for the future in an interview with Essentials magazine.

"I think it can be insensitive to ask women of a certain age if they're going to have children because you just don't know what's going on in their lives," she said. "We haven't started the process, so we don't know yet how things will go, but hopefully everything will be fine. It would be amazing to have a family."

The 39-year-old also said her mother never pressurised her into giving her more grandchildren.

"I think she understands the pace of life these days, especially for me in London. Charlie and I are very similar, but the one thing that's really different about us is our pace," Alex confided. "I move like a steam train, super-quick, whereas Charlie is really laid back. I'll be saying, 'Come on, come on, we've got to go!' and he's like, 'Patience sister, calm down!"

For now, The One Show host is just enjoying married life.

The One Show host married Charlie Thomson on New Year's Eve

"I didn't expect anything to change when we got married, but it does feel quite different. Everything about our relationship is warmer and more comforting. It instantly feels safer, more complete – more like being a part of a team."

Alex and Charlie married in a magical ceremony at Cardiff Castle on New Year's Eve, and shared their wedding photos exclusively with HELLO! magazine. Speaking about her big day in January, Alex told HELLO!: "It was spectacular. Everyone says it's the best day of your life and it just exceeded my expectations. I enjoyed every single second.

"I've told myself not to let it pass in a blur, because it really is quite overwhelming and nerve-racking. But I really did love it, seeing all my friends' faces. And then once I held hands with Charlie, I thought, 'We're right.'"
