Harper Beckham couldn't contain her excitement when she found out that her dad David was meeting the Queen on Thursday. The four-year-old even asked if Her Majesty was going to indulge in the Great British pastime of "drinking tea".

David opened up about his little girl shortly after arriving at Buckingham Palace, where he met the Queen's Young Leaders of 2016. It's the second year that the retired footballer has been involved in the project and looking back at his first visit, David, 41, admitted that he was "very nervous" but "very proud to be invited".

The doting dad also said that he hoped his four children Harper, Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz would be inspired by the young participants.

David Beckham said he hoped his children have "dreams and aspirations"

"Whether they go on to be whatever they want to be, to be honest, as long as they have dreams and aspirations, what better people to look at then these young women and men," said David.

The Queen's Young Leaders project discovers, celebrates and supports exceptional young people from across the Commonwealth, ensuring a long lasting legacy for Her Majesty all over the world.

"It's so nice to see these young men and women come here that are so passionate about what they want to do in life, their dreams, it's just something that's so special to them," said David.

Reflecting on his first visit in 2014, he added: "The excitement in the palace was really incredible and it's amazing they get to meet Her Majesty and the chance to experience something like this."

Lenny Henry was also spotted at Buckingham Palace

Other stars who were spotted arriving for the evening affair included Lenny Henry, who jokingly double checked his invitation on the way in, and said he was "very excited" to be at the palace.

David took to Instagram earlier in the day to say he was "looking forward to visiting Buckingham Palace" to meet the inspirational young people.

But before his royal night out, the jetsetter was in Paris where he had a front row seat at Louis Vuitton's SS17 menswear show, alongside fellow style icon Kate Moss.

The pair were joined by Kate's boyfriend Nicolai von Bismarck and a number of other famous faces including Rio Ferdinand and model Lara Stone for the outdoor show, which was hosted in the Palais-Royal.
