10 fun facts about 'Gone Girl' star Rosamund Pike

When Rosamund Pike goes to blow out her candles on her 36th birthday cake, it’s hard to imagine there’s very much left for the star to wish for. Over the past few months, the London-born beauty has welcomed her second son, become a box-office powerhouse and enjoyed being fêted at the Golden Globes, Critics Choice and SAG Awards.

To top it all off, Rosamund also received her first Academy Award nomination for her brilliant performance in the twisted psychological thrilled Gone Girl. After learning of her nomination, Rosamund tells The Wrap, “It was delicious chaos,” adding, “Me and the two boys in the bed talking to people on the phone. I shift from talking about nominations to talking about dinosaurs!”

Rosamund is hardly a fresh face of film. Following her breakout role in 2002’s Die Another Day, she has starred opposite Johnny Depp in The Libertine, romanced Ryan Gosling in 2007’s Fracture, played with mythology in Wrath of the Titans and will soon start filming The Mountain Between Us in Vancouver, alongside Sons of Anarchy’s Charlie Hunnam.

She has also found success in her personal life. Following a long romance and broken engagement to her Pride and Prejudice director Joe Smith, the Oxford grad has found her happily ever after with mathematician Robie Uniacke . Calling him “fearless” and “clever,” Rosamund has also admitted that he helps her find clarity in the characters she portrays on screen. “My tendency is to identity with a character and imagine there is more on the page than there is. He’s quite good at putting a check on that.”
