Gwyneth Paltrow is known for her clean-eating habits, but the wellness guru understands that eating healthy and organic food is not always the most realistic and quickest option for everyone. That is why her lifestyle site Goop released a Fast Food Guide on Friday (Apr. 14) as a way to help fans make smarter decisions at burger joints and pizza parlours.
The Gwyneth-approved list reveals prime options at popular stops like Subway, Chipotle and Wendy’s. At the sandwich shop, the mother of two advises to ditch the bread and load up a salad with your favourite veggies. Goop’s go-to toppings? Lettuce, spinach, peppers, cucumbers, olive, onion, tomato, carved turkey, and avocado. Salads also reign supreme at the other restaurants, where Gwyneth suggests fans eat a bowl with black beans and no dairy at Chipotle and the Power Mediterranean Chicken Salad with balsamic dressing at Wendy’s.
For loyal customers of McDonalds, Domino’s and Taco Bell, don’t worry, Gwyneth didn’t forget about you. The website assures consumers it is “doable” to eat at these establishments but they are“not ideal.” Goop reveals a great way to guarantee healthier options on these menus is to substitute beans for meat and to avoid any dairy toppings such as cheese and sour cream.
The lifestyle blog also serves up its favourite “go-to-orders” and “menu hacks” and reinforces its understanding that eating healthy all the time can be extremely difficult for some people. Which is why it points out in its section entitled “Just Order the Fries” that hard-to-turn-down treats’ “marginal nutritional benefit might be outweighed by the delight of simply indulging in something you really want.” So, it’s okay to indulge a little with some delicious curly fries from Arby’s or a big donut at Dunkin’ Donuts, just as long as you remember that moderation is key.
