One of the original supermodels, Cindy Crawford’s long and memorable career has spanned decades.
Along with Naomi Campbell and Claudia Schiffer, she helped shift public attention away from the designers and their clothes and onto the women that wore them. Cindy was among the first to diversify her profession – presenting TV shows, acting and making fitness videos, as well as starring in numerous fashion and makeup campaigns.
She has walked the runway for everyone; from Karl Lagerfeld at Chanel to Ralph Lauren and Dolce & Gabbana, and has featured in countless ads for top designers including Versace and Calvin Klein. The mum-of-two was also one of the first fashion models to pose for Playboy at the height of her career.
By 2000, she had overtaken Elle MacPherson as the world’s best paid model.
“Cindy changed the perception of the ‘sexy American girl’ from classic blue eyed blonde to a more sultry brunette with brains, charm and professionalism to spare,” Michael Kors said of the star.
She also remains famously down-to-earth. “Even I don’t wake up looking like Cindy Crawford,” she once stated.
After a brief marriage to Richard Gere, Cindy tied the knot with Rande Gerber, an ex-model and owner of the Skybar, in 1998, and is now a proud mother to son Presley and daughter Kaia.
