Top Canadian models: Daria Werbowy lands on Forbes’ highest-paid list

Canada’s Daria Werbowy has landed on Forbes’ annual highest-paid models list after pulling in $3 million last year.

Daria, 30, is most famous as the face of Lancôme, but the Ukranian-born beauty has also posed for Isabel Marant, Diane Von Furstenberg and, most recently, Mango, where she replaced fellow top earner Miranda Kerr as the face of the Barcelona-based clothing brand.

The self-proclaimed tomboy returned to the limelight last year following a well-deserved hiatus. After achieving the record for most shows opened and closed in a season, she t ook some time off to sail across the Atlantic and around Central America in 2008.

“Sailing is the closest I can get to nature - it's adrenaline, fear, a constant challenge and learning experience, an adventure into the unknown,” she told T: The New York Times Style magazine of her passion.

“And of course there is nothing better than wearing the same T-shirt for days and not brushing my hair for weeks,” she added.

In 2008, Daria became one of two models to be inducted onto Canada’s Walk of Fame, along with Linda Evangelista – and she’s not the only Canuck model to break onto the international circuit.
