Mindy Kaling opens up to 'Flare' about motherhood: ‘I want to have three kids’

Mindy Kaling may have been overlooked at this year’s Emmy Awards, but that hasn’t stopped the beloved comedienne from landing a high-profile magazine cover.

Gracing Flares October issue, The Mindy Project star dishes on everything from fashion to boys to her thoughts on motherhood while posing in an array of colourful designer duds by the likes of Dolce & Gabbana and Prada.

When asked how she feels about having turned 35 this year, the actress divulges her desire to start a family, saying, “this has been the first year I realized that if I want to have three kids, I need to get going.”

At the moment, however, Mindy doesn’t have a boyfriend – and she prefers it that way.

“In my 20s, I was not only boy crazy, but marriage and relationship crazy,” she says. “Now it's almost the opposite. My work is so rewarding and I'm so self-centred about it that I'm kind of excited about not having to go home and ask someone about their day."

The fashion-loving star also opens up about her late mother, who she lost to pancreatic cancer in 2012 – on the same day her daughter's show had been picked up by Fox.

“She would love the clothes [on the show] so much,” Mindy gushes. “I had zero rebellion against my mother. I was terrified of her, and I thought she was very glamorous, and I just wanted to emulate her all the time.”
