Happy birthday, Twiggy!
The British supermodel turns 65 on Sept. 19, and she’s looking as gorgeous as ever.
Twiggy became a superstar during the Youthquake era of London’s cultural scene, spawned by her selection as the " Face of 1966" by the Daily Express.
Her manager and boyfriend, Justin De Villeneuve, shot some of the English fashion icon’s most legendary photographs, but the duo split in 1970 when Twiggy announced her retirement from modelling, saying, “You can’t be a clothes hanger for your entire life!”
And she mostly lived up to her retirement as fashion muse, using the fame she garnered modelling as a means to foray into acting. Twiggy starred alongside Christopher Gable in a film adaptation of The Boy Friend, which earned her two Golden Globes in 1972.
As if this wasn’t enough for A-list status, the former supermodel has had multiple clothing lines, was a judge on America’s Next Top Model and is mother to 36-year-old Carly.
To fête the fashion powerhouse, we're looking back at 25 of Twiggy's most spectacular shots.
