Wearing her version of a “Canadian tuxedo” (a.k.a. denim on denim) at the Nightcrawler premiere, Beyoncé did her neighbours to the north proud.
Fittingly, the film of the night, which follows an ambitious crime journalist’s fall to the dark side, had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.
Looking cool and casual but still maintaining her signature brand of (Canadian) chic, the 33-year-old accented her acid-washed jeans and soft, light-denim shirt with a black felt hat and chunky black boots.
Beyoncé with husband Jay Z and Nightcrawler star Jake Gyllenhaal
Beyoncé, who was joined by husband Jay Z as well as the film’s star Jake Gyllenhaal, finished off her look with a bright red lipstick and let her hair tumble down in loose curls for a touch of Hollywood glamour for the red carpet.
The American singer revealed earlier that day that she would be collaborating with Topshop to create Parkwood Topshop Athletic, to produce ‘athletic street-wear’.
The brand, set to launch later this year, will feature clothing, footwear and accessories across dance, fitness and sportswear.
“We have been looking at this category as fashion-inspired fitness develops, and know that this is right in our customers’ heartland,” said Sir Philip Green, who owns the high street giant.
Beyoncé has revealed she is collaborating with Topshop
“Creating a partnership with Beyoncé, one of the most hard-working and talented people in the world, who spends many hours of her life dancing, rehearsing and training, is a unique opportunity to develop this category.”
Beyoncé commented: “I could not think of a better partner as I continue to grow the Parkwood business. I have always loved Topshop for their fashion credentials and forward thinking.”
The Crazy In Love singer launched House of Deréon, a women’s fashion range, with her mother Tina in 2005 and then founded Parkwood Entertainment in 2008.
